“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.” Charles William Eliot
“Books are a uniquely portable magic,” said Stephan King.
Since January 2015, Keats College Library Department, under the aegis of Mr. Tayab, Mrs.Khirodhur and Ms. Korimbocus, has launched a Story Telling programme which has been received with enthusiasm by the lower class students especially. Every Friday during recess, students of Form 1 and 2 congregate to the Library to listen and participate in the interactive stories being verbally animated for them. Indeed, after a few weeks students became eager to narrate their stories much to the pleasure of the assisting students and staff members present. Telling stories, based mainly if not solely, on storybooks is steadily captivating young minds to the possibility of a whole new world opening itself to them. This year’s slogan “Enliven your life, Tell a story, Read a story, better Write a story”, coined by the college’s esteemed Deputy Rector Mr. Mungly, is being lived up to beautifully. Meanwhile, the Library Department is actively setting the wheels in motion to launch a special event to enliven the lives of present-day Keatsians and the generations to come. As a step in promoting literacy and eventually a reading hub, the initiative is certainly a laudable one!
