Sociology Forum

The annual Sociology Forum was held on the 27th March 2013 and the topic discussed was the Influence of Media. Audience was captivated by the enlightened speech of the guest of honor, the dynamic Professor Sheila Bunwaree. A free-thinking mood was adopted during the forum to explain the importance of media in our lives and also to describe how media can be destructive if badly used. The forum was anchored by Miss Swatee Bhuruth and Miss Arjoon. Captivating moments of the forum were the opening speech of the Rector, Mr Tony Wong Ah-Sui, followed by the Head of Sociology Department, Mr Dev Dhurmah and the interesting questions set by the attentive students.
Best SC and HSC Sociology candidates were also rewarded for their hard work on that occasion, namely Damien Leriche and Sandrine Hollandais for their good performance in SC exams and Neha Ramoin and Avinash Anundi for their excellent work for the HSC exams. Special prize was awarded to Darshan Narayen, for his outstanding performance in Sociolgy HSC exams, by being ranked 10th at National level and 1st among the boys.
Special thanks goes to the whole Sociology Department, the Music Department, the Art Department, Mrs Sunee and Mrs Nawsheeda for their wonderful setting, the catering unit, Mr Rai for the pictures,the non-teaching staff and all those who contributed in one way or another to make the event a success.
