Keats College - Winner of the Second Prize of the Slogan Competition organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on the occasion of the National Day Celebration.

The students of Keats College [Form I and some students from upper classes], Valentina Department, participated in the National Youth Day Celebrations -2012. It began with a ‘Defilé’ of students of different colleges including our Form I students. The ‘defilé’ started at Champs de Mars to proceed to Port Louis Waterfront via Sir Seewoosagar Ramgoolam Street.

Moreover, our college also participated in an Inter-college Slogan Competition on the theme “Maurice Ile Durable”. We went there with only three banners. However, our slogans on the banners were Short, Simple, Specific, Smart, and Sweet and they have conquered the heart of the members of the jury who have awarded us the second prize of Rs 3000 and a Shield.
Our objective in participating in these activities has not really been to win a prize. Instead, we were more interested to take the students ‘out of the box’ (the four walls of the classroom) and expose them to real life experiences and to students of other colleges so that our learners get an ‘all round development’. Anyways, the students were happy to be there and were not keen to return home.

Thanks to the team members who have helped to coin the slogan. [ Mrs. Persun, Mrs. Aulear, Mrs. Keenoo, Mr. Ramdun, Mrs. Ramasamy, Ms. Mihilal ......]
Thanks to Mrs Keenoo and her students who have accepted to paint the banners.
Thanks to the PTA who has advanced us the fund to finance the expenses.
Special thanks to the staff members [Ms. Auckel, Ms. Kodhoo, Mrs. Dilmohamed, Mr. Bobby, Mr. Sunnasee and Mr. Gobin] who have accepted to accompany the students to Port Louis, walk with them in the streets of the city under the blazing sun and return home at 3:30 hrs while the other staff members were allowed to leave school at 11:00 hrs.
Finally, thanks to the management team who has allowed us to participate in this activity.

International Women's Day 2012

The meaning behind the day has changed over time, the underlying premise remains the same: "women deserve the same rights and opportunities as men" -- an idea that may seem like common sense, but which continues to be challenged around the world..
At Keats College, the female Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff had a peculiar way of celebrating this Women’s Day Celebration: a dressing code was set up to mark this day and to show our commonality; therefore the colour chosen was RED.

There was also a Great Women who was honoured on this particular day: our colleague, Mrs.Moctee. She is indeed a great woman who has always been present since the foundation of Keats college and has always put up with the teachers’ as well as the students’ tantrum. She has had the privilege to witness different generations of students and we can proudly say that she has been always up to date with the new trends!!!
